Easy Holiday Recipes

The song, It’s the most wonderful time of the year, by Andy Williams has been getting stuck in my head lately which is a sign to me that Christmas is just around the corner and so is holiday break!!

Oh holiday break, definitely the most wonderful time of the year to spend sleeping in, making holiday cookies with your family, and going to family reunions. Most involving you rubbing your belly sitting next to Uncle Frank while he snores really loudly from his nap caused by a food coma.

The holiday season involves so many yummy foods. Let’s face it though, it’s pretty impossible to avoid all the yummy foods and not over indulge just a little bit. It’s the holidays, so these yummy treats aren’t here all year around!

Check out these recipes you can make over your holiday break! A lot of these recipes are common holiday foods with a healthy kick to them, that way you don’t feel too guilty when you have a cookie or 2 or 3.

Cranberries are a popular ingredient during the holidays and are the super food of the month here at Chartwells dining! Cranberries are an excellent source of vitamin C (a powerful antioxidant) and Fiber (gets your bowels moving for a healthier digestive system).

So, I have included a Cranberry and Smoked Almond Quinoa Salad recipe and Dark Chocolate and Cranberry Oatmeal Cookies recipe. With cranberries you also get the best of both worlds, because they can fit into savory and sweet recipes!

From making cookies with your family or sipping hot chocolate with a comfy blanket watching a holiday movie, I hope these recipes are easy and fun for you to make over your winter break.

Happy Holidays!
